Bobbers vs. Swimmers

Taken from an old blog post from 2005....
I arrived at the pool to do my workout. I had a long swim and was worn out and half asleep. The YMCA has nice warm water so you can slide into the pool with little shock to the system. The workout was 3500 yards, so not so bad, just an hour swim, but sometimes depending on the workout it can be longer. My darn coach gave me a workout for Rambo or something...
I don't like sprinting, so he gave me 16x50s on the 45-second interval. It killed me. Then there was more pain and suffering.
Bobbers - these are the older people you see who show up, get in the water, and bob just like in fishing. They are ready for their morning workout of aerobics and want their special place in line. There is a lane rope to separate us until 9 am. At 9 am, the rope goes away. Anyhow, these "bobbers" have no respect for lap swimmers, and there is a sort of war between them and swimmers. I would say us swimmers could not care less until...
I was happily doing my workout and i could tell the pool was getting full of bobbers. i had just enough to cool down and was swimming to do my last 50 yards and the rope came out. Next thing i knew my hand was in someone butt who could not let me finish to the wall. The entire pool was full of these bobbers.
They can be mean little bitches too. No respect for swimmers and love to stare at you with those beady little eyes just yearning to get their spot.
They got their spots all right, and I had to get out of the side of the pool. How rude, but this is how it is at the YMCA anywhere I have gone... I can only laugh. And to be honest, I would actually sometimes skip a cool down to avoid the bobbers.
