Fort Davis
On the road again---so right now I am on my way to Fort Davis with my buddies Johnny and Author to ride bikes at a cyclefest in Fort Davis. We will be doing a 200k the day before cyclefest in the mountains. It will be a great training weekend!
I had a test today so I have been studying for it. It was in Anatomy and Physiology over the endocrine system. I think I flunked it but I am in hopes I did not. I did study my butt off but I am not sure if it did any good. I was sort of distracted with the half ironman and working.
So we got on the road at 4 and will be driving until midnight or 1am. Author is useless after dark so I should have had him drive first to get his shift in. author is the semi-blind friend of mine. He can see tunnel vision in the day time but nothing at night. I discovered that the rumples on the side of the road or to help people stay on the raod. We are having a nice road trip listening to crappy music. I have these really old cds. They seemed to like the 80’s cds that I had and were pretty into them until I pointed out that I was 3 years old when one of the songs came out in 1977……hmm it sort of pointed out the generation gap. We have listened to b-52’s, metallica, cat stephens, phil Collins, fuel and now we are listening to some retarded emiem stuff. We are not even half way and out of cds. This music is already old. Right now the lyrics are cracking us up. We are children all over again laughing at childish
Ultracycling- so this road trip is really bringing back memories. I used to drive most of the boring drive alone in Texas. I am so glad to have my friends with me for the trip.
When I am looking out the front window I am starting at the white line with some excitement. I have spent lots of time on the road with my van behind me playing lousy music. I don’t think I have many bad memories of my cycling races that I had my van behind me full of goofy tired faces. As I look out the window I am thinking about what I might do next year and I know that I am going to so some ultra cycling race…..just which one? It will come to me soon…who knows it might be more then one.
A Break- I am not saying I need a break. I feel like I have sort of been taking one. I have been training and did do the gigathlon but I have not been training the hours like I did in Lubbock. Why? Well there was nothing better to do other then train in Lubbock. No school, no house to take care of, no puppies and hardly a social life. Once I moved into the coolest house ever I had some better things to do. I also have more of a social life. I have got things nice enough around my house that I can start to relax and focus more on the training. I have been excited to get up and train again so I that the break was needed.
