Las Vegas

Las Vegas

Biking-  so I never slowed down this week after going to Fort Davis.   I got up early Tuesday morning to ride with some guys from the bike shop.  There was this girl Sally there …I am not sure if she is a pro racer or not but I know she road races.   I was not warmed up after Fort Davis and we hit a hill really quick.  This is what breaks the racers up from the riders.  I was actually one of the riders that broke off but I still did the chase.   It was not long and I came riding up on Sally.  I think she just wanted to make sure I was ok.  We rode the rest of the route together.

Hit-  well so I got hit by  a car.   We were on the access road and I felt something hit me.  I was too busy looking to the right at a car that was thinking about pulling out.   Next thing I knew I was getting bumped on my elbow and hand by a car that was passing too close.  I did not get knocked down and it was done before I knew what was going on.   I have a scrape on my pinky knuckle and feel a little bruise on my elbow.  The only reason I did not go down is because I was clinching looking at another car.  Sally did not see it.   The guy actually put his foot on the gas and took off before I could get his license plate.   I don’t think I would have done anything but after I saw him peeling out to get away I sure wished I has his license plate number.  I would really be getting the laws on him for hitting and running.  What is crazy is that he had a whole lane that  he could have gotten in.  There was no reason for him to be in the right lane and he actually did change lanes just before he made a left turn.

All I can think is that I am ok and alive.  i am thankful the mirrors bend into the car or it could have been worse.    I am ok and will  be on the bike again tomorrow.   I am not going to sit on the couch over it.   I sure wish I could nail this guy.

Running-  So after this I had a track workout.   I had to do some mile repeats alone and it did not go so bad.    I run at the track close to my house and sometimes the high school P.E kids are out on the track.    The kids are pretty much rude and walk like they are drunk. I kept passing one guy that has tight pants that were still low.  He had to keep pulling them up and walked funny from them being so tight.   These kids don’t move out of the way but why would they?  The coach just sits on the bleachers with his phone watching.   I did have one guy move over for me.  He was a loner.  I always thanked him for moving over.  I don’t expect them to move but I don’t think they should take up the whole track and walk drunk.i would pass on the grass on the inside and some of them would wobble at that time.  I run like thunder woman so you can hear me comeing.  Oh well it makes my workout more exciting.

Swimming with the Herd-  yikes the place I swim at is not much better then at home.   It is always a war with the water aerobics ladies and the swimmers.  I don’t understand why they have to push the swimmers out 15 minutes early.   I was going to have a long swim in on Monday but I got over taken.   I am not sure what time the class was…I think 915.   Aat 9 am the lane ropes starting coming out and the ladies started making waves and not letting me finish.  I don’t think the instructor was there yet.   At the YWCA we had a lifeguard (or referee)  that would  make sure that the swimmers did not get over taken.  Not now I am all on my own and it is like a herd of buffalo coming at me.   I guess I am going to have to plan to get out 15 minutes before there class.

Las Vegas-  well I am on my way home from Las Vegas.   I flew out last night after class.  Actiually I left class a little early and said I was going to Vegas.  Why Lie?  I came to a bike trade show.    I used to come all the time but skipped it last year. I do it mainly to say hi to my sponsors and let them know my face.  I dont walk around looking at everything and don’t always talk about what they can give me.   I think it means a lot to say thanks in person and that is what this trip is for.  It goes a long way with my sponsors.   I got two new sponsors before the shoe.  HED wheels and Guru Bikes..  I wanted to meet them in person just to say thanks.  These guys are way to busy to be hounded during the show so my hi is only about 5 minutes and pleasant.   It is always nice to see everyone again.

I am sure others can think of better things to do in Vegas but I studied last night at my hotel out in the boonies.   I booked my reservation yesterday for my hotel room.   I saw a cheap hotel on Las Vegas Blvd and booked it.  Next thing I knew the money I saved on the room got spent on a 27 dollar cab fair to this nice 4 star hotel in the boonies….woops.  I won’t do that again.  The cab driver let me sit in the front which is unusual,  I hate being a snob in the back.  I don’t like sitting in the back of cabs after I had a cab driver tell me all the weird things they catch people doing in the back of them.   I could have stayed with some friends but wanted some study time.  This morning was a nice jog just to wake up
