The Swiss

The Swiss

My favorite country that I have been to is Switzerland. I have been to Europe a few times and each time I go home thinking I will not come back.  I was thinking that in Germany the other day when I got lost.  My view has changed since I have come to Switzerland.  I have to tell you that it is not the country or terrain but it is more the people that I like so much.  This place has grown on me and I really do love it here.  Dany, Sarah, Danial, Dominik, Rodolfo, Roger, Dirk, Rennie, and everyone else that I have met have been so great.  I also get a nice smile when I go into stores and get help.  I do not know German so it is really nice to be in a country that you can communicate in.  I do think that after all this racing is said and done I might try to learn some German for future travels. I think it will show that I do respect the people here. I am really bad at it now.

Let me tell you more about the Swiss.  After the camp I was amazed by how fit they all were.  They are born triathletes or shall I say gigathletes.  They all seem to know how to do a variety of sports and I think that is simply amazing.  Most of them all seem to know a few languages and are willing to try to communicate with you.  It seems like they are always up for a challenge.  I have not really run into anyone that is not polite here. I also have decided and this is my personal opinion but an un-fit Swiss is like a fit American.  When I came to camp a few weeks ago I was in the rear. I do not mean to seem cocky but I do like to think of myself as “a fit american”.  I got my butt kicked all over the place at camp and was dead last everyday. I was supposed to be a coach but instead I had the beginners showing me a thing or two.  I wish I looked better for the U.S. but I made us look rather silly.  Everyone is really positive here and so damn nice!
