Trail Running

Trail Running-  This morning started out with a 2 hour trail run.  I decided to go to the  mountain bike trails and get some practice in.  Keep in mind that I have only run on trails about a handful of times.  The trail was narrow and it had some spots that had some loose rocks on it.  I figured that I was doing pretty good and thought I would use this opportunity to check out some of the harder stuff that I had not ridden on the bike.  I was running along the path and decided that I would be back to do it on the mountain bike and that I could do it.  I was doing the intermediate and expert parts of the trail.  Just as I was thinking it was doable to do on the bike I fell flat on my butt.  I came to this little steep downhill and was going to take it easy but when I put the brakes on I fell and hit my tail bone.  I also smashed my nano that I was carrying in my hands.  It is ok and so am I but I do have some holes in my clothing from the slide.  If I did not have gloves on then my hands would be ruined.  I guess it is a good thing that I had gloves on.

I continued to attempt trial running but I am just to clumsy and had some parts that I almost fell on that were flat.  I can see why I was a bench warmer in basketball.  I am so clumsy!  I did another loop and thought that I would do that same hill but walk down it and can you believe that I just took one easy step and slipped again.  This time I scraped up my calf somehow.  Trail running is something that I really need to work on.  Gosh!  I have so many things to improve on.

Inline Skating-  Well I got my poles in and I don’t have a clue what to do with them.  My coach told me to get some to help me out but right now I think they would just make me fall.  I have never skied before so I don’t even know where to start.  I decided to not use them today and wait until I can find someone that might know what the heck to do with them.

Swimming-  Just when I thought I was at my best my ribs got bruised.  I am still swimming even thought this is what hurts the worst…well that carrying the bike at the mountain bike race was worse… but they still hurt.  I am barley making my intervals but I am moving ok.  Every time I do a flip turn I am using my abs and that gives me a shaper pain but it could be worse. I am still keeping the feel of the water so as soon as I am better I bet my swim will be right where it was before I got hurt.

Healthy Lubbock-  We had a meeting on “lighten up Lubbock” today and I am really excited about it.  I have really been doing my homework and enjoying it.  We have created something that might work but I have my doubts a little until we run it by some other people.  We are wanting to get teams to participate in it and will be starting with corporations.  This will fire up in September after I get back from France so I can really be a part of it.  There are so many ideas that we all have.  I would like to do weigh ins and
